Altran Opens Testing Center For passive Safety in Michigan

Altran a company that specializes in automotive engineering services and R&D has opened a testing center for passive safety testing center in Michigan which will focus on testing of passive safety technologies and devices like airbags and pedestrian protection technologies. The Michigan center will collaborate closely with other Altran centers across the globe like those in Canada, France, Austria and Germany. This is Altran’s first such center in the United States. The center will also provide customers with local distribution and turnkey-equipment support for customized applications from Altran’s Concept Tech and Microsys testing systems.

The auto industry is changing more than it ever has, and this allowed Paris-based Altran – and
other engineering companies – an opportunity to get its foot in the door when it opened its World Class Center for Automotive Passive Safety in Wixom last week.
Keith Williams, group chief technology officer for Altran, said his firm is a global engineering company that does about $2.4 billion worth of business in North America. About 10 percent of that is done for the auto industry.

DETROIT -- In an effort to attract new business and better serve U.S. clients, French engineering and R&D consulting firm Altran Technologies opened a passive-safety center in the suburbs here.
A ribbon-cutting event was held Wednesday to celebrate the facility in Wixom, Mich. -- the company's first passive-safety center in the U.S. The center will perform passive safety tests including pedestrian protection tests, free-motion head form tests and airbag tests. It will provide engineering services to address automotive industry test standards and develop tests to ensure compliance. Engineers also will perform test drives on a secured track.

Altran Technologies SA, a French engineering and consulting firm, opened a passive-safety test center in Wixom, Mich. The 15,000-sq-ft facility is the company’s first testing center in the U.S., joining the company’s main test center in Gratkorn, Austria, and a satellite operation in Augsburg, Germany. The Michigan center will focus on airbag testing, passenger compartment safety and pedestrian protection tests.
In addition to impact test equipment, the facility includes 3D digitization equipment and a full-size climatic chamber. The site also has an outdoor test track for impact and sensor testing. Altran expects the center to conduct complete tests on four to five new vehicles annually.

Altran to open its first passive safety center in North America

Engineering and R&D services provider Altran is to open its first passive safety center in North America in November. Located at 48602 Downing Street in Wixom, Michigan, the World Class Center for Passive Safety will focus on pedestrian protection, airbag testing and interior testing.
In addition to testing and engineering services, the facility will also provide local distribution and support of turnkey test equipment for customized applications from Concept Tech and Microsys. A grand opening event and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, starting at 3:30pm, for customers, vendors, municipal officials and media. Tours of the facility will also be provided.
